FOCUS Chats
FOCUS Chats were created in response to the unprecedented challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic. The goal of the FOCUS Chats is to provide a structure for PSOM faculty to come together to share experiences, strategies and solutions. These informal, 30-45 minute virtual Chats have since evolved to address the myriad of challenges that have surfaced from both the COVID-19 and racism pandemics. Using a “crowd-sourcing approach,” FOCUS is actively engaged in developing solutions by sharing wisdom from these Chats with leadership who often join the Chats themselves. FOCUS Chat topics have included: research career concerns during COVID; challenges at home as routine work resumes; crowd- sourcing potential strategies at the institutional level; and changing the culture at Penn Medicine to address structural racism, and others.
